World History 2008-Present (2012)
In the year 2008, everything changed for the better in the world. Certain countries began to realize that peace was a better solution to the chaos that war had created. Technology was starting to be used to help people out instead of killing them, and exploration became the focus of the stronger nations of the world.
It was in the year 2011 that a large mass was detected in the deepest depths of the ocean by an advanced satelite orbitting the planet. This strange mass was deeper than any humans had ever gone before, and if Humanity was to explore outer space, they should at least investigate the mysteries that Earth held first*. Several nations united together and began to probe this secret deep in the planet's ocean. What they found, was something that was thought to be a legend. Deep on the ocean floor were the ruins of a sunken continent. Strange statutes near the edge of the sunken continent would eventually confirm this land mass as the lost continent of Atlantis.
The entire world was stunned by this discovery. The lost city believed to have been a legend was actually real. People wondered at what could be found in the ruins, what secrets could be found. The nations of the world that had helped discover this sunken city gathered together their best scientists and researchers and devised a way for the ruins to be explored. A massive structure was built around what was believed to the center of the main city, and water was pumped out of the ancient ruins, allowing Humans to explore.
One year later, the first mission to the city of Atlantis has been launched. What will our scientists find in the ruins of the sunken city? Will they find out who the Atlanteans were? Or perhaps what sunk the continent to the bottom of the ocean? Only time will tell, so please check with your local government for more information on the Atlantis Project.
*The Space Program has been place on hold while our brave scientists try to uncover explore the ruins of Atlantis. We must understand the past before we look to the future.
